M. Dung started “The All-Night Idiot Show” in June of 1977. It was the height of the punk era in rock & roll. He was the program director at student radio WSRX Grand Valley State Colleges in Allendale Michigan. He wanted a radio name that would be offensive as possible that I was still able to use over the air just to piss off the general manager who hated my guts. Soon “Dung” was a hit on campus with the kids.
Dung’s first professional radio job was at WLAV Grand Rapids. He was “Mike Richards” on the air of the top 40 am station. When Dave Logan discovered “Mike Richards” was really the crazy DJ “M. Dung” he would listen to…he hired him on the spot to bring his show to LAV-FM a 50,000 watt rock station serving west Michigan.
Logan left LAV to start KFOG in 1982 in San Francisco and brought Dung along for the ride. The rest is history… |
