FAIKA! S3:E5 – Doctor Palaita and Emani Ilaoa

Dr. David Ga’oupu Matthew Palaita, Ph.D and University of Hawaii Graduate Student Emani Ilaoa are the Faika in-studio guests on February 3rd. They will be talking about the education world and their journeys both inside the classrooms and in the community.

Doctor Palaita most recently, developed and implemented Pacific Studies curriculum into courses at the San Francisco County jail and in the San Francisco Unified School District. In 2017, he was awarded the TRIO Programs top national award for Racial Equity in Higher Education for his work in the development of Pacific Islands Studies and the creation of the VĀSĀ Program in addressing the achievement/opportunity gap for indigenous Pacific students in higher education.
